What is HelloCoucou ?
HelloCoucou is the organization created to connect vous. With the ultimate goal of fostering language learning, forging lifelong friendships, and pioneering stronger worldviews, HelloCoucou is among the only organizations specifically designed to connect the anglophone (English-speaking) and francophone (French-speaking) communities. No matter where you come from, you get to represent your country, language, culture, and values. And yes—we allow you to do all this without the barriers and costs of in-person exchange experiences.
Foreign language education is great, but it can do better.
A traditional classroom setting for foreign language education neglects key elements of culture that are imperative to better understanding and appreciating the language itself. With French, specifically, classroom environments will often talk about France—but what about the other 28 countries left out of the picture, so rich in history and culture? Senegal, Canada, Mali, the list goes on and on and on....
HelloCoucou was built to amend these issues. First and foremost, we create an expansive network where students can be placed into virtual exchange pairs with others from across the world (and no, not just the United States and France). These exchange groups are designed to maximize the learning opportunity for each student, as well as engage their interests in such education in the first place. This creates a means of foreign language education, but more than that, it allow students to gain a better sense of the world and appreciate the diverse range of countries for their foreign languages, all while having a blast. Voilà !
The HelloCoucou mission:
-
Provide as many people as possible with a convenient and accessible foreign language exchange experience
-
Host educational experiences that are memorable and build community
-
Allow foreign language education to be a naturally engaging experience
-
Strengthen worldviews by emphasizing the diversity and multidimensionality of the francophone community in our education
